Shooting in the early afternoon

Shooting in the early afternoon - Today I head to a location I've had my eye on for a while , the weather is far from ideal for the type of image I want to make so post processing is going to be key.

This was meant to be a recce trip , studying the tide height, seeing the angle of the light & figuring out where I should be standing to make the images I had in mind .

A 3 day trip, day 1 was a total wash out ( I don't think I got out of the van for more than 10 mins ) , day 2 was sightly better but as I was shooting in the early afternoon light it was still a compromise .

For this location the tide is absolutely the key factor, it needs to be high & sadly today , high tide is early afternoon , not my favoured time of day for shooting .

The images were always going to be Mono & long exposures in these conditions & ,whilst they won't be everyone's cup of tea , I'm pleased with how they turned out . It pushed my processing skills to the limit ,2 hours for 1 image ! Minimal images for my collection , I'll that .

I will be back here , a LOT ,the place fascinates me , although the foreground will never change I feel there are many images to be made here , all determined by the sky so I'll keep coming back until I'm 110% satisfied I have THE image I hadn't realised just how many locations the Merseyside area has to offer , the Wallasey see defences are just one option & I'm thoroughly enjoying getting to know the area .
