Foreground Interest

Foreground Interest - I don't often use foreground interest in my landscape photography as I find it can distract attention away from the primary subject.

However, I do think that if used properly it can add depth to a photograph and it is important to understand how it can be used in landscape photography composition. Summer can be a difficult time for landscape photographers.

I usually spend my time practising any learning new techniques. In this video I head to Beacon Hill on Orton Scar in the Yorkshire Dales National Park to practice composing images using foreground interest.

The Yorkshire Dales is littered with limestone pavements - perfect for foreground interest.
